My Guayaba Tree

I have on my porch,
in a giant barrel pot
a beautiful guayaba tree.

I sit under my tree
happy to smell
the sweet scents,
glad to be shaded from the hot sun,
enjoying the breezes of its small branches.

Some day I will sit
under my guayaba tree in my porch,
and I will see the small green fruit grow
bigger and then ripen,
and I will taste it's sweet fruit.

But for now I will sit
and enjoy the breeze
under my guayaba tree.
