There's a Coquí in My Shoe!
by: Marisa de Jesús Paolicelli
Illustrations by: Tanja Banerle

What a delightful book! Every Puerto Rican household should have one. Not only does the author introduce the readers to our delightful coquí, she also inspires new generations on conservation. Without conservation our beloved coquí will soon dissapear from Puerto Rico all together.

Island inspired landscapes for the yard or patio are easy. Select a few large leaf plants such as elephant ear, caladium, Calathea, palms, banana, Begonia glabra, Canna Tropicana, and lots of ferns to set the mood. Plant a few large ceramic pots with some sort of hanging leafy plant like sweet potato or ivy. Use one or two hanging baskets with ferns. In a covered patio, select an outdoor fan with a leaf shaped blade. Select dark colored furniture with bambo or cane features and cover cushions with tropical colored fabrics. Include a water feature and surround it with lots of plants. Play a coquí recording during parties, and don't forget to serve Piña Coladas - the Puerto Rican drink.
