Monito Geko
Salanquita de Isla Monito

Found only in Monito Island, Puerto Rico this tiny geko can grow up to about the size of a thumb (approximately to 1½"). It has short limbs, suction cups on the tips of the bristles, the eyes are protected by transparent scales and . . . it can squeak, click, croak, and bark. This little lizard with bulging eyes is quite an acrobat. It races easily across cliffs and can even walk upside-down! The Monito Geko is an endangered species and was discovered in 1974.
